Basque Toasts

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of farmhouse bread 
  • 1 green pepper 
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 4 slices of Bayonne Ham
  • sheep's milk cheese
  • 1 pinch of Espelette pepper
  • Salad (arugula) 
  • Olive oil, salt and pepper

Preparation

1 - Wash the vegetables. Coarsely chop the pepper, tomatoes and garlic clove. Mix these ingredients together to make a spread.

2 - Cook this spread for 10 minutes with a drizzle of olive oil. Season with salt and pepper and add the Espelette chilli pepper.

3 - Place your spread on the slices of bread. Add the sheep's cheese

4 - Put the slices of bread in the oven for 5 minutes ( grill position ).

5 - Take them out of the oven and add the Bayonn ham and a few rocket leaves.

And, uh... Taste!

Here's a toast that smells like sunshine with peppers, ewe's cheese, Bayonne ham and Espelette chilli pepper as a garnish, of course. It's a quick and simple recipe to enjoy!
